Confession: Curves scare me.
No, not the women-only gym (although that's kinda scary in a whole different way). I'm referring to curved piecing. There are so many beautiful blocks and quilts out there using curves, and I usually avoid them because I'm not confident in my ability to piece them.
Well I've decided that's silly and I just need to jump in there and do some curved piecing. Face your fear!
So here's the start of my quilt chock full o' curves. I figure baby quilts are the best place to try out new skills. Babies don't notice puckered seams, right? I'm pretty fussy with each of these little curves, and I'm definitely not breaking any sewing speed records, but I think they're turning out pretty good!
And I've got lots of patches cut for practice. By the time this quilt is finished, curves will fear ME!
And the fabrics are so great who would even dare to look at the seams. But seriously, it is looking great so far. What did you use to cut your fabric it is so neat and tidy.
ReplyDeleteHaha! You tell those curves what's up! I admire your dedication to learning this skill. Curves scare me too, never tried them.
ReplyDeleteThey look terrific, great fabrics! I haven't been brave enough to attempt curves yet. You have inspired me!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your practice is paying off! It's like typing, or any other skill, learn how to do it first & the speed will come in time.
ReplyDeleteGreat fabric choices. Looks cool.
ReplyDeleteGo for it, Jenny! I admire you for expanding your skill set. The quilt is looking good!
ReplyDeleteI love curves!! I hope that you find the drunkard's path as addicting as I do. I have such fun with placement of colors and values! Each one having their own unique personality, and a great one to make 36 7" blocks with the Elisa's Backporch templates for fast, fun, looks harder than it is, baby quilts!! I know my charities love them! 42" square and you don't have to piece the backing!! I am lusting after your fabrics!! another Jenny
ReplyDeleteI love the fabrics! I just started curved piecing recently too and it hasn't been as frustrating as I thought it would be!! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThey look good! The fabric is really cute. What line is it?
