WIP Wednesday - 5/16/12

I'm getting so close to finishing my rose star quilt!

rose star quilt wip3

Just need to fill in a few more patches around the edges. It's tempting to keep making more blocks and adding to it, but I need to get one project checked off my "unfinished" list. I'm planning to hand quilt it, so it's still going to be a while until this little quilt is done. Do you think it needs a small border around the edge, or should I just bind it?

The warm weather and spring activities has made it more difficult to find time to sit down and sew, but I did finish this pp block from Fat Quarterly the other day.

I still need to embroider a little balloon string for the girl to hold. I think it will make a nice mini quilt to hang in my daughter's room!

  1. I love the pp girl!!! Too cute for words.
I have been looking for a good hand project to take to the pool/park/etc this summer -- I think the rose stars just might be the ticket! They are beautiful!

  2. I use to think everything needed a border but have you noticed how quilts are reverting back to the old style of no borders. You have to look at your piece and decide if it calls for a border , does it add anything or is just more fabric. This piece is just so sweet, such nice colors.
Love the girl with a balloon too.

    Happy Sewing

  3. The rose star is beautiful! I think it would be nice with a border.
The paper piecing is fantastic :)

p.s. would you mind turning off your word verification please?

  4. Wow that is darling! I say adding a thin border will help frame the quilt like a piece of art work, which it is!

May I ask where you got the pattern from for the rose star? I love to hand sew and this would be just up my alley. Thanks!

  6. Wow! Those are incredible! I'd do a white border around the whole thing, I think...
